Ireland is a magical country! The lush green landscape, the medieval castles, and the beautiful and majestic Connemara Ponies are just a few of the things I love about this island of leprechauns and shamrocks.This image is of Kylemore Abbey. It was built in 1868 as a private home for the family of Mitchell Henry, a wealthy doctor from London and was named Kylemore Castle.Kylemore Abbey is now a Benedictine Monastery founded in 1920 on the grounds of Kylemore Castle, in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. Last week, I was honored with beautiful trophies and ribbons at the annual awards banquet hosted by Georgia Professional Photographers Association. While the awards are definitely nice (and look great on the mantle!), what they symbolize are even more important to me.The Georgia Photographer of the Year Award recognizes the art of photography alongside contributions to the photographic industry in Georgia. Bowl of Beauty Peonies When we started sheltering in place, I found myself looking for diversions from the stress and anxiety of the news, lack of work, family safety, etc. I've always enjoyed photographing flowers so I decided to purchase a macro lens to discover a new style of photography.We recently moved our peonies from a shady spot in our side yard to a front yard garden full of sun. It was not the ideal time to move a peony, but we did it anyway. No time like the present.Through my new macro lens, I began watching my peonies begin to grown and bud.
